Forests, plants and soil bear our future. The earth can no longer sustain the damage caused by industrial agriculture, monocultural forestry, and thoughtless settlement design. We can either ignore the madness of uncontrolled industrial growth or take the path of life and survival.
Permaculture is "permanent agriculture". Its intention is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of landscape and people providing their needs in a sustainable way.
The philosophy behind permaculture is one of working with, rather than against, nature and of looking at systems in all their functions, rather than asking only one yield of them. Permaculture as an interdisciplinary earth science was founded in the 1970s by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren.
Today thousands of people around the world attend design courses, workshops and seminars in order to learn how to apply Permaculture to their daily life. "Permakultur lernen", that means "Permaculture learning", is a German non profit organization which is dedicated to bring people closer to the concept and principles of Permaculture. In Germany you can participate in a 72 hour course on a idyllic and beautiful farm near Chiemsee in Bavaria. At the moment we give Permaculure classes only in German. However, if you wish to attend, we are looking forward to arrange a English translator. Please get in touch with us.
